It was a year packed with commercial activity for me in publishing and advertising, but I managed to keep the literary wheels turning.
My poem "Inside the Circle," written in homage to artist Mil Lubroth, was a finalist for the 2006 Pablo Neruda Poetry Award, sponsored by Nimrod International Literary Journal. The award is given to a long poem, up to 9 pages. An excerpt of "Inside the Circle" is scheduled for publication in Nimrod in 2007.
And the winner wasn't . . . no prize for DreamBones from the Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards, but there was praise from the contest judge for the book, which rated a 14 out of a possible 15-point score:
